The Effects of Contextual Teaching andudLearning Approach With Using Video Compact Disc (VCD) and Student WorkudSheet (SWS) to Competence Achievement of History Subject Viewed from TheudStudent’s Cognitive Type. Thesis: Post Graduate Program of Sebelas MaretudUniversity in Surakarta.udThis research purposes to analyze: (1) The effect difference of contextualudteaching and learning approach with using VCD and SWS to the studentsudcompetence achievement of history subject in second semester of second year inudKaranganyar State High School, (2) The difference of student’s fieldudindependence and field dependence cognitive type to the competence achievementudof history subject in second semester of second year in Karanganyar State HighudSchool, and (3) The effects interaction of contextual teaching and learningudapproach with using media and the student’s cognitive type in second semester ofudsecond year in Karanganyar State High School.udThis research uses quantitative method and experimental approach with 2udx 2 factorial design and descriptive analysis data. The population is students inudsecond year in Gondangrejo and Colomadu State High School in Karanganyarudregency. The research uses cluster random sampling of 80 students that areuddivided into 40 students in experiment group and 40 students in control group.udThe research uses questionnaire and test to collect data. The data analysis usesudtwo paths analysis variant (ANAVA). Before conducting analysis, the researchudconducts validity test using moment product correlation, conducts reliability testudusing Alpha Cronbach for questionnaire instruments and Kuder Richardson forudtest instruments, and finds out the difficulty levels and the differentiators. Theudresults show that all variables are valid and reliable, and also show that the testudinstruments have difficulty levels and differentiators before hypothesis test is toudconduct.udThe results of hypothesis test show: (1) There are different effects ofudcontextual teaching and learning approach with using VCD and SWS to theudcompetence achievement of history subject. This is proved from F count = 22.523ud> F table (a = 0.05) = 3.98. Thus, the use of contextual learning approach withudusing VCD is proved to give better effects than the use of contextual learningudapproach with using SWS, (2) There are differences of student’s fieldudindependence and field dependence cognitive type to the competence achievementudof history subject. This is proved from F count = 31.650 > F table (a = 0.05) =ud3.98. Thus, the students who have field independence cognitive type give betterudeffects than those students who have field dependence cognitive type, (3) Thereudare interactions of effects of the contextual learning approach with using mediaudand the student’s cognitive type to the competence achievement of history subject.udThis is proved with the test results F count = 12.242 > F table (a = 0.05) = 3.98.udThe Tukey test proves that there are interactions of effects of the contextualud20udlearning approach with using media and the student’s cognitive types to theudcompetence achievement of history subject.udThe research results streng then the theory of contextual learning theoryudwith using learning media. The use of contextual learning approach with usingudmedia will help students in correlating materials taught by their teachers to theudreal situations that are realized with media learning such as VCD and SWS mediaudthat contains of material summaries to internalize and develop learning materials.udApplying the contextual teaching approach with using media, teachers are hopedudto: (1) To stimulate students with internalizing simplified learning materialsudthrough learning media, (2) Have highly integrated skills between the learningudmaterials and student’s daily life, (3) Stimulate the student’s motivations withudapplying contextual learning approach with using media that is related to theudsubject matters and daily phenomena that are observed by students, (4) Motivateudstudents to creative thinking and be self reliance so that students are able to thinkudscientifically in line with life context and able to find out the concept of historyudsubject learning materials.
