摘要

With a history of 200 years, the university media have had an strong influence within social changes and revolutions. The formats that are managed from these spaces are exploring various platforms, formats and themes in the current world of communication. However, the fact of being part, and in many cases, to depend financially from a private or public entity, makes the university journalism crosses editorial dependence problems, censorship and autocensorship. In Ecuador, this reality is latent and journalists that are working in these university media, are in the dichotomy of cover issues with a favorable image of the institution, serving, often as part of public relations of the university and not as journalists. Since the case of seven universities located in the city of Quito, this study covered the new challenges and perspectives that these student media have and the development of their journalistic work.
