Defending European Airports: Cyber-Physical Threat Analysis in Total Airport Management

摘要

In the past, airports relied on a host of information systemsudand control applications that were loosely integrated. Theudsoftware infrastructure components that supported water, udheating and lighting systems did not exchange data withudbaggage handling applications, nor with air trafficudmanagement systems. In turn, these infrastructures wereudisolated from information systems to aid passengerudmovements through check-in to departures and onto theudaircraft. Many airports have, however, begun to implementudAirport Operations Plans that improve situation awarenessudand support collaborative optimisation through increasedudlevels of integration and connectivity. This paper identifiesuddifferent architectures that support a new generation ofudAirport Operations Centres (APOC). Subsequent sectionsudsummarise the cyber security threats that arise from interconnectionudand inter-dependence. The closing paragraphsudpresent mitigations that increase the cyber resilience ofudAPOCs and also address a number of associated safetyudconcerns.
