摘要

During October to December, U.S. growers are likely to harvest 1 percent moreacres of seven selected fresh-market vegetables than last year. The seven are broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, celery, sweet corn, head lettuce, and tomatoes. In Florida, estimated harvested acreage is down 14 percent for tomatoes and 4 percent for sweet corn. Lettuce acreage in California is estimated down 6 percent. During the January through September period, retail prices for fresh-market vegetables averaged about the same as last year, but somewhat higher fourth-quarter prices will raise the annual average.
