Evaluation of Marten Translocations on the Manistee National Forest and the PereMarquette State Forest. Final Report

The continuation of the evaluation of the marten introductions in northeast LakeCounty concentrated on determining if a self-sustaining population had been established in the area of the releases; determining if they have spread to adjacent areas; and identifying the characteristics of the habitats they are using. This information was used to develop recommendations for marten habitat management and provide guidelines for the selection of future marten release sites. The data presented was collected over a three winter period which was longer than anticipated due to the limitation of snow and other weather conditions. Under these conditions it took three years to collect sufficient data to meet the objectives of the study.
