The Pension Rights Center's Pension Information and Counseling TechnicalAssistance Project (TAP) began on October 1, 1993, and ran through May 31, 1995. TAP's principal objective was to enhance the capabilities of seven AOA funded innovative new local demonstration pension information and counseling projects, scattered across the country from Boston to San Francisco. In addition, TAP was to make, on the basis of its evaluation of this program, recommendations for future programs to meet the needs of the elderly for pension information and counseling to help assure their retirement income security. The U.S. Administration on Aging (AoA) provided TAP's primary funding; the Public Welfare Foundation and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) provided matching funds.
