The subject considered in this investigation is the non-linear dynamics of amechanical oscillator (with one degree of rotational freedom) in a wind field. A quasi-steady approach is used to model the aerodynamic damping and stiffness effects. Dynamic tests were performed on an experimental oscillator setup in a wind tunnel, in which limit-cycle amplitudes were recorded and compared to the quasi-steady analysis. Tests at increased wind speed revealed the predicted behavior of increased limit-cycle amplitudes, amplitude-dependent oscillation frequency and dynamic divergence above a critical wind speed.
