National Practitioner Data Bank: User Satisifaction with Reporting and Queryingand Usefulness of Disclosure Information for Decision Making, 1992-1994

The study represents Phase II of the evaluation study to assess the impact of theNational Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB). Phase I developed the survey instrument under Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) contract no. 240-91-0017, delivery order no. 240-92-0508. The primary purpose of the Phase II study is to implement the evaluation methodology. This impact was assessed by evaluating its ability to serve as a national repository and to distribute useful information effectively. Data Bank (NPDB), medical malpractice insurers, state medical licensing and disciplinary boards, hospitals and other health care entities engaging in professional review, and individual physicians and dentists who have been reported to the NPDB will have access to the information.
