The statistics presented focus on those long-term direct lending programs of U.S.Government agencies to foreign governments which have future payments schedules payable both in dollars and foreign currencies. The statistics also present information on private lending to foreign governments guaranteed by U.S. Government agencies and the resulting contingent liability of the U.S. Government as of December 31, 1995. This report contains the following information on U.S. Government direct credits to foreign governments by major program and country: Amounts of principal and interest, including fees, paid for calendar years 1991 through 1995; Amounts of principal and interest reduced pursuant to legislative authority for calendar years 1991 and through 1995; Amounts of principal undisbursed as of December 31, 1995; Amounts of principal disbursed and still outstanding as of Decmber 31, 1995; Arrears of principal and interest outstading one day or more as of December 31, 1995; and Scheduled principal and interest payments for calendar years 1996 through 2000.
