Users' Manual for Assessing Service-Delivery Systems for Rural PassengerTransportation

This manual is one of two products designed to help you to design, evaluate, andimprove rural transportation services for your community. Funded through the Transit Cooperative Research Program, this manual provides information about rural transportation service options, how often they are being used and where, and their performance results in those communities. At the moment, all systems included in the data files are those funded through the Section 18 program of the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration. Case studies of exemplary systems are included, and the appendices included, statistics on most of the Section 18-funded rural transit systems now operating in the United States, with comparisons by service types and by region. Contact information for 1,100 systems is also included. The other product is the Rural Transportation Sevices computer program, an easy to use database program that enables you to view information of interest to you about rural public transportation services that are currently operating in the United States. The program, described in Appendix A, provides you with detailed information about the public transportation services that now operate in rural communities and about those communities.
