摘要

This report described a method for tracking a target in a CCD image sequence withdetector elements sensitive to infrared radiation. The tracking algorithm correlates periodically recurrent images of a relatively slow moving target of small angular extension. Due to a centrally weighted pixel sensitivity, the target seemingly deviates from a smooth motion, with a complex period depending on the time taken to completely traverse a pixel in either coordinate. A slowly changing picture of the object reappears at certain time intervals as a function of target speed and direction of motion. This provides the possibility to enhance the image resolution of the target based on a greater number of unevenly spaced data points from the moving object.
