This report reviews the design and construction issues involved in theconstruction/utility interaction during highway projects. Practical solutions like pre-construction conferences, weekly utility relocation coordination meetings, subsurface utility engineering and other locations techniques, reinforcing the importance of utility issues in the design process, early contact of utility agencies, utility relocation schedules, management of utility location information, and proactive utility management during construction.
