Non-Uniqueness of Weak Solution of the Euler Equations

The nature of weak solutions of the Euler equations has been quite unclear, andonly a few sparse results about them are known. A quite striking result has been obtained by V. Scheffer (S). The original proof of this outstanding result is long and complicated. The aim of this paper is to present a simpler and more transparent construction, so that the nature of these strange solutions is more clear.
