Endangered Species Act Biennial Report to Congress on the Status of Recovery Programs, July 1994-September 1996.

TDuring the 1988 reauthorization of the Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA), an amendment was added to the Act requiring the Secretaries of Commerce and the Interior to prepare a biennial report 'on the status of efforts to develop and implement recovery plans for all species listed pursuant to this section and on the status of all species for which such plans have been developed.' To satisfy this reporting requirement, a summary of recovery efforts fix species under National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) jurisdiction for the period of July 1994 through September 1996 has been prepared. Included in this report is the most current species status and trends information available.
