This is the third in a sequence of papers that present the factors involved in211u001eidentifying the radio frequency spectrum required for both current and future 211u001eDSRC operations. Since the proposed applications, signal characteristics and 211u001echannel allocation have been evolving over the course of the spectrum requirement 211u001eanalysis these papers have represented the information available at the time of 211u001eprinting.The first paper was titled Spectrum Requirements for Vehicle To Roadside 211u001eCommunications (VRC), dated October 1995, and discussed the basic requirement to 211u001ehave a sufficient number of channels and spectrum available to accommodate all 211u001ethe potential applications of this communications method. The second paper was 211u001etitled, Updated Spectrum Requirements for Dedicated Short Range Communications 211u001eformerly Vehicle To Roadside Communications (VRC), dated March 1996, and added 211u001emore detail on the interference potential between applications and an 211u001eenvironmental perspective. This current paper presents more information on 211u001eapplications, additional considerations in channel assignments, a change in 211u001epotential signal characteristics,more information on channel bandwidth 211u001ecalculations and information on channel reuse distances. The development of the 211u001eexpectations for this communications area has matured sufficiently that this 211u001epaper presents a firm estimate for DSRC spectrum requirements.
