Bioremediation Treatability Studies for Soils Containing Herbicides, Chemicals,and Petroleum Products. (Includes Technical Summary)

Leaking underground storage tanks (LUST's) are widespread throughout the UnitedStates. Soil contamination by hazardous pollutants may exist at some Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) facilities. Potential pollutants are petroleum products, herbicides and solvents. The primary hazard posed by LUST's is the possible contamination of ground water, which comprises most of our drinking water supply. The overall objective of this study was to determine whether bioremediation is a feasible treatment option for contaminated INDOT soils.
