An open-water, completed trip angler survey was conducted from Minnesota basedaccess points on the south shore of Lake of the Woods from May 11 through September 30, 1996. A general trends of increasing pressure and harvest on Lake of the Woods during the 1980's peaked during the 1990-91 season (1,911,726 angler hours), and has since moderated. The total estimated angling pressure on Minnesota waters in 1996-97 is not available, due to the non-funding of our winter creel survey. Estimated angler effort and percid harvest, from Minnesota waters for 1996 from the walleye opener until 30 September, were 657,534 angler hours (a-hrs) and 298,298 pounds (lb). Estimated percid harvest consisted of 93% (278.758 ib) walleye (Stizostedion vitreum), 6% (17,544 lb) sauger (Stizostedion canadense) and < 1% (1,996 lb) yellow perch (Perca flavescens). Northern pike (Esox lucius) harvest was estimated at 13,477 lb.
