摘要

This report describes the activities out in phase 2 of the project in which211u001eattempt was made at characterizing NA at the Coupepolder. Within this phase all 211u001ehistorical data together with additional measurements were interpreted. The 211u001ehydrogeological setting of the landfill is such that the spread of landfill 211u001eleachate will be via gully deposits below the northern part of the landfill to 211u001ethe underlying aquifer. The gully deposits and the aquifer directly below the 211u001eaquifer have been influenced by the landfill leachate. Downstream no evidence has 211u001ebeen found whereas using conservative transport modelling this was to be 211u001eexpected. Besides degradation, dilution probably plays an important role, the 211u001eamount of leachate percolating from the landfill is small in comparison with the 211u001eflow velocity in the aquifer. Microbiological techniques such as the Gram 211u001eNegative BIOLOG technique and the development of degradation specific BIOLOG 211u001eplates have been applied in this phase, Metabolic profiles have been determined 211u001eon samples from within the landfill, from the boundary between landfill and 211u001eaquifer and from the aquifer directly below the landfill. The metabolic diversity 211u001ewas highest for the sample from within the landfill and much lower for the 211u001esamples below. This may imply a larger degradation capacity in the landfill.
