This monograph summarizes surveillance data and investigative reports of fatal211u001eincidents involving workers who contacted energized electrical conductors or 211u001eequipment. The surveillance data were derived from the National Traumatic 211u001eOccupational Fatalities (NTOF) surveillance system maintained by NISOH. The NTOF 211u001edata are based on death certificates of workers 16 years or older who died from a 211u001etraumatic injury in the workplace. The fatality investigations were conducted as 211u001epart of the NIOSH Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) Program. FACE 211u001eis a research program for the identification and investigation of fatal 211u001eoccupational injuries. The goal of the FACE program is to collect information on 211u001efactors that may have contributed to traumatic occupational fatalities using an 211u001eepidemiological approach. and to develop and disseminate recommendations for 211u001epreventing similar events in the future. The authors' hope is that this monograph 211u001ewill serve as a valuable resource for safety and public health professionals, 211u001esafety and health trainers, researchers, and others who can affect the prevention 211u001eof occupational electrocutions.
