摘要

In 1988 and 1989, Complete Archaeological Service Associates (CASA) conducted archaeological excavations at 15 sites north and east of Cabone, Colorado. Intensive excavations were carried out at six of the sites (5DL112, 5DL121B, 5DL1091, 5DL1105, 5DL1120, 5DL1138) with limited excavations conducted on the remaining nine sites (5DL113, 5DL114, 5DL117, 5DL1082, 5DL1095, 5DL1100 5DL1103, 5DL1106, 5DL1116). These sites were excavated as part of the mitigation effort for Reach III of the Dove Creek Canal Project, the final stage of a three phase project. The Dove Creek Canal Project is a major construction feature of the Dolores Project built by the Bureau of Reclamation. Its purpose is to transport irrigation water northwest from McPhee Reservoir to Dove Creek, Colorado. The excavations recovered data from Anasazi occupations dating from the Basketmaker n and Pueblo I periods. This report presents descriptions and interpretations of the 15 excavated sites as well as the results from the analyses of the artifactual and biocultural remains.
