EPA is promulgating the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Regulation (UCMR) for211u001ePublic Water Systems (PWSs), which revises substantially the existing regulations 211u001efor unregulated contaminant monitoring. This final rule includes a list of 211u001econtaminants to be monitored, procedures for selecting a representative 211u001enationwide sample of small PWSs that will be required to monitor, the frequency 211u001eand schedule for monitoring, the sampling points, the approved analytical methods 211u001eto be used, and procedures for entering the monitoring data in the National 211u001eDrinking Water Contaminant Occurrence Database (NCOD), as required under section 211u001e1445 of SDWA, as amended. The data in the database will be used to identify 211u001econtaminants on the Drinking Water Contaminant Candidate List (CCL), to support 211u001ethe Administrator's determination of whether or not to develop drinking water 211u001estandards for a particular contaminant, and to develop standards for the 211u001econtaminants that the Administrator selects.
