摘要

Mechanical engineering is one of the branches of applied physics. The fundamental211u001etheories in classical physics, such as elasticity, plasticity, fluid mechanics, 211u001ethermodynamic, and so on are still employed in mechanical engineering. In 211u001eaddition, many new fields in mechanical engineering, such as system control, 211u001emicromechanics, MEMS, and others were developed in last two decades. Generally, 211u001eit is not sensible to collect the research works in the whole field of mechanical 211u001eengineering as well as to combine those in other branches of engineering into one 211u001ejournal, which will discourage the potential readers to browse among the 211u001earticles. On the other hand, if the journal publishes some high standard and 211u001eoriginal research works in engineering, it will be worth referring to. This is 211u001ethe goal of the special issues of this Journal. It is the first the authors 211u001eoffered a special issue concerning the research works in mechanical engineering. 211u001eThe authors have collected some high standard works in fracture mechanics, 211u001ematerial fatigue and the relevant research.
