This publication presents information on fatalities that occurred at small crushed stone and sand and gravel mining operations from January 1994 through September 28, 1998. Small mines in this publication refers to mines with 50 or fewer employees. This publication includes statistics for the fatalities as well as abstracts, illustrations, and best practices.
