Fatigue Resistant Detail Design Guide for Ship Structures

This report provides a Guide that provides an overview of the Fatigue problem and211u001ethen provides guidance to practicing designers at three levels of sophistication: 211u001eAt the simplest level there is a Catalogue of good detail design practice. At the 211u001enext level there is a procedure for calculating the fatigue design procedure 211u001eusing the latest, practical available methods. The Guide also contains a review 211u001eof the varying approaches of Classification Society and other design codes. Three 211u001equite different worked examples are provided to illustrate the methodologies and 211u001ehighlight the necessary assumptions that are made. Finally, a comprehensive 211u001ereference list is provided. The Guide is part of a two part project the other 211u001epart of which was the organization and presentation of a Short Course on Fatigue 211u001eand Fracture in Ship Structures, the first of which was held at the Management 211u001eCenter of Michigan State University on August 18-21, 1998.
