The Lockheed Martin Propulsion Corporation is located at 1500 Crafton Avenue inRedlands, California. In 1997, perchlorate was discovered in a number of domestic water supply wells that serve several water purveyors throughout San Bernardino and Riverside counties. Two of the wells in the City of Loma Linda's municipal drinking water system had been impacted by the perchlorate groundwater plume, originating from the Lockheed site. The purpose of this public health assessment is to review the groundwater data from municipal water supply wells used for the City of Loma Linda's domestic water supply, and to evaluate possible adverse health effects from exposure to perchlorate. Only the potential health impact caused by ingestion of perchlorate-contaminated drinking water is evaluated.
