The Bird Study 11 (B11) project staff searched oil spill agency files inAnchorage for EVOS clean-up and response data. This research provides extensive documentation of oiling to four harlequin habitat types in western Prince William Sound: Offshore rocks, bays and lagoons, mussel beds, and potential breeding streams. The most productive searches were conducted at the Oil Spill Public Information Center (OSPIC) library and at the U.S. Coast Guard Federal On-Scene Coordinator (FOSC) offices. This research provides detailed history of oiling of important harlequin duck habitats and to determine the degree of injury to the species. However, it also intended to compile information resource for future scientific work on spill-related topics or regional ecological studies.
