摘要

The objective of this project was to support the 17th annual meeting of the International Society of Technology Assessment in Health Care (ISTAHC), an international forum for those engaged in evidence-based assessment of healthcare technologies. ECRI, 30-year-old nonprofit health services research agency served as the Local Organization Committee for this meeting. ECRI is a Collaborating Center of the World Health Organization and an AHRQ-designated Evidence-bases Practice Center (EPC). The conference theme was 'Building Bridges between Policy, Providers, Patients, and Industry.' The specific aims included examining: the role of the healthcare industry in technology assessment; whether progress in technology assessment enables clinicians and patients to put findings into practice, and the interface between public and private sector uses of technology assessment. Session topics included the challenges of integrating technology assessment information for clinicians and patients; and the challenges technology assessors face regarding analytical tools, emerging technologies, and evolving assessment methods. The conference held from June 3 through 6, 2001, at the Philadelphia Marriott Hotel in Philadelphia. Post-conference activities were held at ECRI research campus Plymouth Meeting PA on June 7, 2001.
