Surveys of production landowners were conducted in 1998 and 2000 seeking information on attitudes, preferences and hunting and farming activities related to white-tailed deer. A total of 9,000 surveys were mailed in each survey with 5,152 and 5,823 responses for a 61% and 69% response rate in 1998 and 2001, respectively.
