The American Medical Directors Association (AMDA) Foundation Research Network held its second annual meeting in Dallas, Texas, on November 2-3, 2002. The overarching goal of the conference was to review the findings of the research studies initiated the previous year and their implications for improving quality and safety in long-term care. In addition, members identified and discussed new research priorities for the Network, identified new principal investigators, heard presentation on the role of the site investigator in educating institutional review boards about research issues in long-term care, and further developed already defined projects. These activities will serve to help the Network continue to build a network of practice-based research collaborators in long-term care.
