NCD activities in FY 2001 promoted policies, programs, practices, and procedures that guarantee equal opportunity for all people with disabilities, regardless of the nature or severity of the disability. These efforts were based on NCDs strategic goals: (1) Enhance the lives of people with disabilities of all ages and backgrounds through the development of policy recommendations; (2) Educate the public and elected officials on disability issues; (3) Promote effective delivery of federal services and programs to underrepresented populations such as culturally diverse communities, rural residents, and youth with disabilities; and (4) Make NCD a high performance organization.
