摘要

A method of assessing white bass populations sampled with gill nets during fall in Missouri's large reservoirs was developed by establishing criteria and objectives for population parameters of recruitment, population abundance, growth, size structure, and age structure. Objectives could not be set for recruitment and population abundance, because catch rates were too variable to accurately depict changes in abundance. Instead, populations should be monitored for prolonged changes in catch rates of age-0 and ages-1 and older white bass. Objectives for growth depended upon the predominant prey in each reservoir. Mean lengths of age-1 and -2 white bass should be 300 and 350 mm in reservoirs where gizzard shad are the primary prey, and 330 and 380 mm in reservoirs where threadfin shad are the primary prey. Objectives for size and age structure were determined by modeling total annual mortality rates (about 40-50%).
