摘要

This study draws upon complementary qualitative and quantitative analytic strategies to evaluate the cultural relevance of CONNECT, a structured interview designed to assess continuity of care in mental health services. In the qualitative component, focus groups with African-American and Puerto Rican mental health service providers and open-ended interviews with 62 individuals with serious mental illness (African-Americans, Puerto Ricans, and whites) were carried out to identify new, culturally relevant domains and items for CONNECT. In the quantitative component, CONNECT was 'altered for importance' and administered to 90 individuals with serious mental illness to rank the relative importance of the scales for African-Americans, Puerto Ricans and whites.
