Caratterizzazione di Dispositivi de Assistenza Meccanica Bentricolare. (Hypothesis of Tests for the Characterization of Ventricular Assist Devices.)

The heart failure is a great problem for the public welfare and has like gold standard heart transplant, but it is not a common treatment because of the complexity of procedure and of small amount of organs. It is necessary to apply to other solutions: mechanical cardiac system support. The development of types and use of assistance devices induces the need to characterize them with appropriate test bench. Given the test system, created in the Department of Technology and Health of the Istituto Superiore di Sanita (the Italian National Institute of Health), and the device under test, this study provides a 'philosophy' of test in accordance with an analysis of device on physiological and pathological conditions of heart with the possibility to change the support. The results are due to the choice made and set up, but they are a characterization of the device comparable with datum of literature.
