The document reports on the main issues discussed during the fourth course-debate of the Istituto Superiore di Sanita (the National Institute of Health in Italy) on quality assurance in radiotherapy. The course held in Candiolo (Turin) in 2005 and 2006, in collaboration with the OU of Radiotherapy of the IRCC (Istituto per la Ricerca e la Cura del Cancro) of Candiolo, was specifically devoted to the 3D radiotherapic treatment planning. The aim was to get, through a debate among different professional figures, an as wide as possible joint consensus, on methodologies to be used and on the results to be obtained on this subject. The course was planned as dummy run on different pathologies: lung, prostate, rhinopharyng. This document presents the points considered critical to improve all the steps of the treatment planning.
