The document contains an overview of the present structure and rules of the Istituto Superiore di Sanita (ISS, the National Institute of Health in Italy). A brief report of its research, control, prevention, advice and training activities is given for each Department (and Unit), Centre and Service. A synthesis of national and international activities coordinated by the ISS follows with hints to 2008 programmes. Finally, a list of publications produced in 2007 is included.
