Absolute measurements of K-band radiation from extra-terrestrial sources require the determination of attenuation due to atmospheric oxygen and water vapor. Prior theoreti¬cal work of Van Vleck and Schulkin has given expressions for the attenuation of these atmospheric gases along a path through a uniform atmosphere.
