ESTIMATING THE POISSON PARAMETER FROM TRUNCATED SAMPLES WITH MISSING ZERO OBSERVATIONS

Considerable interest has recently been manifested in the problem of estimating the Poisson parameter from samples in which zero values of the random variable are not observed.nIt is the purpose of the present paper to reexamine the problem of solving maximum likelihood estimating equations in the cases of the missing zero observations in Poisson samples and to provide necessary tables and charts to render the required calculations feasible.
