This procedure has been prepared for use in BUWEPS and BUSHIPS Secondary Standards Laboratories. The government assumes no responsibility for the results forthcoming when the procedure is employed by parties other than naval laboratories.nThe procedure was specifically developed to utilize instruments presently at the disposal of the Laboratories of the Bureau of Naval Weapons and the Bureau of Ships. It is recognized that equivalent equipment produced by other manufacturers may be available to other laboratories and might be capable of equally satisfactory performance of the procedure.nListing of instruments by make and model number in the Equipment Required (or Equivalent) Section carries no implication that these particular instruments are preferred, recommended, or approved by the Navy Department for utilization by other than Navy laboratories.nIf parties elect to use the procedure notwithstanding the contents of the first paragraph, then parties having equivalent equipment produced by other manufacturers are encouraged to solicit information from such manufacturers concerning methods of substitution and modifications necessary to make this procedure compatible with their equipment. Further, parties not equipped to perform the calibration outlined herein, but desiring to establish this capability, might well review available specifications governing manu¬facture and performance of required instruments and should competitively procure necessary equipment having suitable standards at the most favorable price.
