The true worth of a conference is reflected in the quality and merit of the technical papers presented. On this basis, the con¬ference has left little to be desired. This is understandable be¬cause the papers selected represented only about half of the total number offered to the conference. The effort and cooperation of the authors, of these papers from government laboratories and their con¬tractors are therefore gratefully acknowledged, together with sin¬cere congratulations for their excellent presentation In this con¬nection, I would, particularly, like to mention the excellent support from the British Ministry of Aviation, the British Admiralty and the Canadian Defence Research Board. The cooperation given by the De¬partment of Defense, Army Research Office and the National Science Foundation was greatly appreciated.
