Data acquisition and data utilization are the core problems facing the planners. The planner's burden is routine data collection and handling, which is of relatively little value in getting his prime job done but consumes an inordinate amount of time. The report is directed toward finding solutions to these problems. The solutions take the form of two operational case demonstrations for the acquisition and utilization of school census data and tax assessment data. The experiences and knowledge gained from these demonstrations are being used to develop a cost-effective, time shared, remote access system configuration which is designed to support the planners. The ultimate objective is the assimilation of information science and computer technology into the planning process. (Author)
