Tests on Laterally Unsupported Beams of Steel B.S. 15

摘要

Two tests were carried out to determine experimentally the effective length factor of a beam restrained laterally by typical structural connections. A comparison is made of the lateral restraint stiffness applied to the test beam, theoretical estimates of the required stiffness and that recommended in the British Standard Codes of Practice. It is concluded that tests should be carried out to determine the effective length factors for beams and columns with typical structural connections. (Author)
