On the Half-Plane Model in Double-Dipole Electromagnetic Prospecting

This paper discusses the application of the conducting half-plane model to double-dipole inductive prospecting. A theoretical analysis of the secondary field is made for systems, where the receiver antenna is situated inside the transmitter loop or very close to it. Starting from Wesley's half-plane solution, a simple matrix formulation is found. The expressions include all combinations of antenna geometries and take into account the dip and strike angles of the half-plane. Scale model experiments show neglible differences when compared with theoretical calculations. (Author)
