Some Investigations on the Sol-Air Temperature Concept

摘要

The sol-air temperature concept has been widely accepted, and simplifies the treatment of the complex heat exchange phenomena occurring at the outdoor surface of a building. Using measured data of surface temperatures, surface heat flow rates, and net radiation exchanges, sol-air temperatures were calculated by different formulae and compared with those measured by two methods, under a variety of climatic conditions. It was concluded that the sol-air temperature concept is a valid one, that its usefulness arises from its independence of type and thickness of building section, and that the accuracy of its calculation exclusively from weather data and absorptivity and emissivity of the surface is limited in practice by the accuracy of estimation of the outdoor surface convective heat transfer coefficient and the mean radiant temperature of the outdoor environment.
