Loss of Durability in Bituminous Pavement Surfaces -Importance of Chemically Active Solar Radiation.

摘要

Correlation between the amount of vanadium in an asphalt and its Hardening Index after two years service in a pavement,as well as the correlation between the vanadium content and the Hardening Index obtained by a new laboratory test utilizing actinic radiation,clearly indicate the importance of the vanadium content and the new test utilizing actinic radiation for estimating the quality of an asphalt required in situations where solar radiation is an important environmental factor.
