The Present Status of Atmospheric Electricity, Report of the USRA Atmospheric Electricity Study Panel

The report presents findings of the USRA Study Panel which was convened to examine the present status of research in atmospheric electricity and recommend policies to the National Science Foundation. Recent directions of electrical research are discussed in the context of the atmospheric sciences. The Panel concluded that research in atmospheric electricity is now well-positioned for significant advances, despite its relative isolation and unpopularity.
