The Committee on Man-Food Systems Interactions of the Advisory Board on Military Personnel Supplies is responsible for advising the U.S. Army Natick Research and Development Command on behavioral sciences research and development on factors in man-food systems interactions, such as acceptability, taste and flavor, food habits, food and food systems acceptance, and human factors in food service, including the effect of food systems on performance. During its meeting at NARADCOM on 9-10 May 1978 the Committee completed a review of the program of NARADCOM's Behavioral Sciences Division. This report contains the comments and recommendations of the Committee in the following three areas: (1) Food senses and acceptance, (2) Field Studies and Food Habits, and (3) 'National Dietary Goals: Challenges and Opportunities for Behavioral Sciences in the Defense Department's Food Program.'
