Industrial Hygiene Report of Mechanical Cotton Picker Operator Exposure to DEF (s,s,s-tributylphosphorotrithioate) at Schletz Brothers, Firebaugh, California on November 14-15, 1978

An industrial hygiene survey was conducted on November 14 and 15, 1978, to study mechanical cotton picker operators exposure to s,s,s-tributylphosphorotrithioate (78488) (DEF) at Schletz Brother (SIC-0722) in Firebaugh, California. The respiratory samples of DEF ranged from 15.0 to 232.5 nanograms per cubic meter; the dermal samples ranged from 0.32 to 1.02 milligrams per 8 hours. The author notes that these values were obtained during abnormal weather conditions, and suggests that during normal weather conditions, exposure concentrations could be elevated by one or two order of magnitude. Additional respiratory and dermal sampling should be conducted during normal weather conditions.
