Volume 3 contains two sections: Urban Environmental Studies and Environmental Education. In the first section five papers deal with the raw waste problem in urban parks. Three papers discuss modification of, or the suitability of the Beltsville Aerated Pile and Aerobic Composting methods to park settings. One paper suggests methods for applying composted material to vegetation. Another deals with soil and water contamination from compost. Two soil analysis reports are presented. One examines soil properties of the Mall in Washington, DC. The second examines soils and compost materials of urban gardens for heavy metals. Another paper discusses stress factors, such as soil conditions, affecting plant growth and maintenance, and methods to reduce stress. The treatment of dutch elm disease, and research concerning elm tissue culture is discussed.
