Local Organization Dimensions of Rural Development in Turkey: Socio-Economic Stratification, Orientations Toward Participation, and Attitudinal Modernity

Although Turkey's agricultural sector employs 75% of its people and accounts for nearly all its exports, the country's overall economic development requires strenous efforts to raise rural productivity, boost agriculture's contribution to GNP, and achieve more equitable distribution of rural incomes. Such are the conclusions of this study, performed under the auspices of Cornell University's Rural Development Committee, aimed at finding correlations between the socioeconomic and attitudinal composition of rural organizations and the development of the agricultural sector.
