Proceedings of the Symposium on the Role of Biology in Development, Dar es Salaam, September 1983

摘要

The Symposium was attended by biological scientists from several institutions in Tanzania engaged in training and research. It sought to identify the role that biology could play in enhancing the richness and production of key renewable natural resources in the country. Papers presented ranged in coverage from traditional medicine, fisheries, forestry, nutrition to agricultural Botany and livestock production. The symposium made several recommendations, which include: detailed surveys of national fauna and Flora and assessment of their development potential, popularization of aquaculture, development of high-yielding livestock, reduction of crop losses, and finding less expensive methods of controlling vector-borne human and livestock diseases.
